In the last instalment of posts on my holiday to Santorini, this post is all about Places to See.
The majority of this post will be photos as words can not describe the beauty of this island and the mesmerising views it has to offer.
FIRA, SANTORINI
The main town on the island is Fira, which is situated high up on the hilltops of Santorini. Here is where you will find a maze of shops and restaurants, low and high which look out to the beautiful views of the volcano and the sea.
Here is where we had our first dinner out, you will find more on this on my Santorini - Where to Eat post. On our last day we returned here for shopping and lunch.
OIA, SANTORINI
Oia is situated on the top north of the island, again along the hilltops, here is where you will find the iconic blue top buildings. The views of what they say is one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world can be seen from here.
A lot like Fira, it has lovely shops and restaurants and here is where many people come from all over the world to get married. This was where we came for our last night and had dinner with a 360 degree view of Oia and front row seats to the amazing sunset.
EXCURSION AROUND THE WEST SIDE OF SANTORINI
On our third day we went on an excursion, a boat tour with Oia Sunset Tours. We paid €80 each, this included pick up and drop off from and to our villa.
The tour started at Oia port and the first stop was the Hot Volcanic Springs where we could jump off and swim in the springs for around half an hour. The water was pretty cold swimming up to the spring but you could feel hot areas of water where the springs are.
From there we were full steam ahead towards the south of the island, taking in the breath taking views of the Santorini coast line. From the boat we could see the ancient Lighthouse that stood isolated on the hilltop and on the edge of the island you could she the Indian Rock which resembles the face of a native indian man.
From here we went to the Red Beach and then to the white beach where was able to jump in and snorkel. We then had a lovely Greek BBQ and some to relax and sunbathe before we took a slow sail back to Oia port.
I hope you liked my travel diary on Santorini, be sure to check out my other posts if you haven't already..
